40年代初，张翼鹏、粱惠超、小杨月楼、宋德珠、贾大元有较长时期在此演出，潭富英、张君秋、李多壹等也曾在此登台。1943年七八月是张惠冲大魔术团献演，引起轰动。

    1944年11月春节，戏院易后主，改名中国大戏院，开幕时邀请马连良、叶盛兰、袁世海等人，同台演出的有宋慧珠、高盛麟、王吟秋、芙蓉草等人，至下半年后，因南北交通不便，即由陈鹤峰、李仲林、等人连演两年连台本戏《血滴子》。

 

   大戏院地处黄浦区浙江中路牛庄路，紧邻南京路步行街，市百一店，交通方便，剧场设施齐全经过年大修改建06年全新装修后，中国大戏院现有观众席606。现已对外演出。
